Autobiography
Ryan Oneil Cedan Turland, known professionally as "Kanastone," is a Jamaican Reggae Dancehall recording artist. He was born on August 3rd at the Spanish Town Hospital in the parish of St. Catherine to parents Winsome and Renford Turland.
Kanastone had a strong interest in music from a young age and was most influenced by reggae artist Papa San. He looked up to Papa San as his role model and spent hours creating lyrics and practicing to deliver them just like him.
Kanastone attended Kemps Hills High for his secondary-level education, where his writing skills for his lyrics began to blossom. He enjoyed performing his songs at school concerts and in his community.
After graduating from high school, Kanastone moved to the community of Hayes in the same parish to live with close relatives. He then decided to pursue his music career and visited Kingston, where his uncle resided in order to visit the recording studio regularly.
Kanastone has performed on major stage shows throughout the island and shows in and around his community. He believes that music is a universal language that should be heard globally. He is known for his hit songs such as "Summer," "Things Strange," "Hurt My Heart," "Can't Get My Love," "Girls Ova Guns," "The Crowing Cock," "Ram Dancehall," and "Social Media."
